An energy audit of your property will determine how your building is using energy, identify weaknesses, and assess energy efficiency and flow throughout the building to reduce energy waste, carbon emissions, and lower costs. Energy audits of commercial and industrial properties primarily focus on HVAC and lighting, and can inform the property owner if they would benefit from retro-commissioning or other energy services.
EBI’s expert Energy Services team is highly experienced in performing in-depth energy audits to ensure our clients’ properties are operating efficiently. Whether you have one property to maintain or a nationwide portfolio, EBI can help maximize our clients’ bottom line, and assist them in maintaining and operating cost- and energy-efficient buildings.
EBI was retained by a regional lender to conduct an ASHRAE Level II Energy Audit for a 226-unit apartment complex, comprised of nineteen buildings consisting of 4 three-story apartment buildings, 13 two-story apartment buildings, as well as a clubhouse and storage building, totaling 242,904 square feet of rentable space in Texas.
New England Biolabs (NEB) retained EBI Consulting to perform services to achieve carbon neutral operations for a 220,000 square foot laboratory building, and various buildings located on the campus. The first phase of the project consisted of understanding the current carbon footprint created by NEB by performing Energy Audits, Energy Models, and Carbon Footprint Calculations. These services helped identify the current carbon footprint of the campus, and to further understand all opportunities to achieve energy efficiency.
EBI Consulting was engaged by the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) to complete approximately 234 Facility Condition Assessments, 233 Sustainability Assessments and 69 Accessibility Assessments for state-assisted housing developments.

When it comes to energy efficiency, knowledge is power – especially with increasing regulations regarding carbon emissions and other climate challenges. Energy benchmarking, the process of assessing where your building’s energy efficiency falls in line with other buildings of similar size and purpose, gives property owners the ability to make improvements where necessary, find ways to reduce waste and costs, and improve overall property value.
It’s all too common to spend the first year occupying a building troubleshooting the various issues that arise, wasting time, energy, and money. Commissioning (Cx) can ensure a well-delivered building with lower operational and maintenance costs from day one.
Energy usage, sustainability, and resiliency are critical factors in a commercial real estate property’s performance, costs, and most importantly – investment value. EBI’s comprehensive approach to energy management ensures your goals are achieved on every project.
