Remediation

Environmental contamination can be a huge liability if regulatory, 3rd party, and public expectations and perceptions are not effectively managed. Remediation techniques have evolved with a growing understanding that risk-based remediation is more logical than remediation for remediation's sake. EBI's expert's will manage the perceptions of risk and expectations of risk reduction that can drive the cleanup of a contaminated property. EBI identifies appropriate remediation goals in consultation with its clients by characterizing risk and using investigative triage so that end points and timelines are identified before remediation begins. On many projects, we have drafted carefully worded activity and use limitations to preserve property values, and highest and best uses, while significantly reducing remediation costs. Using our practical experience we can calculate the real costs and benefits of achieving our clients' goals via different pathways, and of the cost and value of additional investigation versus active cleanup. EBI's specific remediation experience includes in-situ and ex-situ methods, anaerobic and aerobic bioremediation, chemical oxidation, reductive dehalogenation, monitored natural attenuation, targeted excavation and disposal/recycling/reuse, air sparging, soil venting, dual-phase extraction, groundwater contamination containment, and other methods.

EBI has achieved regulatory closure of countless properties contaminated with a wide range of contaminant types, including but not limited to heavy metals, pesticides, petroleum, asbestos, manufactured gas plant wastes, and polychlorinated biphenyls. EBI's staff maintains the required professional licenses and registrations necessary to conduct site remediation projects nationwide.
